09 november 2014

9th of November

It's a historical day today...let us not forget...ever.
I am a member of Norsk Utvandrermuseums Venner and about ten days ago we had membership meeting at  Norsk Utvandrermuseet / Migrasjonsmuseet. We had invited two of the very best here in Østlandet to talk about DNA, Trond and Randi.  Thank you so very much, I think we all learned a lot and something new!

Do you look alike your ancestors?  I do.  I got some of my looks from my Grandmother Mimi. I wish I could have had more time with here.  Known her better.

I have green eyes.  I think it is from the DNA from my Grandmother Mimi.  One of my fathers sisters have green eyes.  But it might been from my Grandfather Einars DNA.  I do not think my mothers family have green eyes...hmm...

I wonder if you can inherit mood, kindness, joy and feelings?  My family says that I got my fathers mood. Sometimes I wonder what they mean, or is it just a way of telling me that I am so out of it!  I do not know!

All my Grandparents, Mimi and Einar - Agnes Dorthea and Simon Andreas were hardworking people.  So am I.  Even though, some days it might be a little too exhausting, I know I will manage.  I can not just give in.

I have a sister and a brother, both are younger than me.  We are tree different persons. We do not look alike.  My sister looks like my mother, my brother looks like my Grandmother Agnes Dortheas, older brother Simon.  Even though we got some similar DNA from our parents and all our ancestors.  It is a mix...strange!

Photos can tell a lot - or not - about our ancestors.  You see all the pictures on my wall?  It is some of my Great Grandparents, Grandparents, my parents and my siblings.  The only one who showes their teeth are my mother Grethe, my sister and me.  So do they have teeth, the other ones?  I do not know.  I hope so. They are very serious on theese photos.  A little smile could do...

Have a great week...I know I will...and do not forget to enjoy life...it is there for you...!

22th of August

Then it's Sunday and my last summervacation day - I'm going back to work tomorrow and I'm trilled with joy!  Last week I didn't do much blogging - shame on me!

My Aunt Randi was here for three days.  We did halibut, bacon and swine, we did Edeldesign and Skafferiet, we did shrimps and we did goodbye at Gardermoen.  Have a blast in Copenhagen and thank you for visiting us!

Hipp Hipp Hurra! It's Norways Birthday.

Today is Norways Birthday.  Our Constitution Day.  Congratulation!
"A day to honor freedom, our rich heritage and our common bond as citizens of this great country"  I borrowed this sentence - It says it all.

Nichlasen is in Oslo with his father - Varg and I are home alone - doing nothing!  This is a day to reflect over our freedom and to celebrate.  We the Norwegian people have a lot to be proud of and to remember.

Today is The day when everybody! talks about the weather - here on HedEmarken it's grey with some ray of sunshine - it's 13 Celsius pluss and 55 Farenheit.

We do have bunads / national costumes from nearly every part of Norway.  This is the Solør Odal Bunad.  Even though I don't live in Solør anylonger - I'm Solung in my heart!  So it was easy to choose which bunad I should wear!

This layout I did some years ago. It's not the layout you should focus on - but the picture.

It's my aunt Randi waving the Norwegian Flag in Kaffegata - The Street of Flisa - on 17th of May 1941.  My Grandfather Simon commanded his children out in the snow - with the flag - and he did take some marvelous pictures this day - even tough The World War II was going on in Norway.

The handsome young man is my uncle Johan - he passed away in 2004.  You can see the famouc birches in Kaffegata behind my mother Grethe.

This is my Grandfather - Simon Andreas Johannesson Holter - 1898-1969.  He dared in 1941.  I think he belived in freedom for everyone, he was strict - very! and he was conservative...I think.

Have a nice day - where ever you are and enjoy...Hipp Hipp Hurra!

It Snowed Yesterday...

...and it's rainig today - luckily - I'm not a big fan of snow.
This picture are my Uncle Johan, my Aunt Randi and my mother Grethe.  I think my Grandfather Simon Andreas took the picture in 1941.  They are skiing on the farmers land opposite my Grandfathers Store in Kaffegata at Flisa.

I have painted all the letters in white trying to get some "icy" look.  The musictones are painted silver - crackled - and painted white.  All the flowers are white, and embossed with silver - I like that.  The frame are corrugated cardboard, I teared it and I enbossed it with a cranberry look.  Most of the stuff are handmade - I buy usually scrapbookstuff in "white" - pearls in boxes - and so on - then I'll give "it" all a "bendichtemakeover"

Today is cleaning day - painting doors day - getting my house together day - and I need a lot of days like today.  Hoping to get rid of all the paintboxes before Christmas - this year.
Have a nice Sunday - Enjoy!
