What will 2014 bring...

Happy New Year 20014!  I wonder what 2014 will bring me?  And what can I give 2014?  I'm turning 55 this year.  It's five years since my brother and my son and I spent three wonderful and unforgettable weeks in USA and drove through 15 of The United States!  Wow, where did thoose 5 years go?

My mother Grethe and my son, Jan-Nichlas on my birthday in 2009.  It's taken in our driveway to Evja, our place in Nordre Osen.

My brother and his new Muurikka.  A pan for making great food outside.  It's June 2010, it's Evja and it's some of the best part in Norway, of course!

We usually stay the week-ends during the summer at Evja.  It's relaxing, it's freedom, it's family, it's genealogy, it's beeing ourself.  This is The River Nordre Osa 2011 - she is just passing by, and our marshy bay.

Summer of 2012 - it just rained - it was just rain - and lots of rain - no SUN at all - but Norway was verrry green.  I didn't use my porch a lot during that summer.

Last June, 2013 I finally visited - Domkirkeruinene - you can read more about them here!  And it was summer and sun!  It was great.

But before this new year stats, I have to throw out Chrismas of 2013.  I bought myself a new tree last year - a treetree - it's designed in Denmark.  This tree is smashing!.  It's me!  Enjoy your day...

Later in October 2012

A week ago - there were Totentreff - a fantastic event twice a year - this time I couldn't paticipate because we had to close down Evja before wintertime.  Hope you all had a great time Totengirls!

Last winter we got new neighbors at Evja - well not just neighbors - the kind that occupied some of our birches - just look!

Well, I guess The Beaver Family likes our birches - but this one was a little bit too big!  So this birch is floating in Evja - our Marshy Bay.  But you see, the beavers they do not like to get trapped - and this Beaver Family are one clever one - they have to be - they live in Osdalen

Do you see the road - the path from the Marshy Bay to the Nordre Osa River?  I just hope they don't divide the land in two?!

We do not have fences around Evja, except towards our neighbors in north - it has something to do with Norwegian laws and wilderness and other political stuff here in Norway.  Anyway - my father had kind of a humor! - the picture tells it all!

No fences - but a Gate!  Have a wonderful Saturday - and don't forget to enjoy...whatever you like!!

The First Day in August

Hello to you all!
I see that many bloggers have one year with blogwriting everyday - I think that is a good idea!
Therefor I will - try - to Congratulate everybody who are in my Brother's Keeper list.  I will just use their first name, their patronymic, the year they are born - no one under 80 years old - and their genealogy location. And perhapes a little story.  Hoping no offend!

I have only three genealogy locations.  Nordre Osen which is my grandmother Agnes Dorthea Persdaughters family.  Elverum which is my grandfather Simon Andreas Johannssons family.  And Åsnes which are both my grandmother Mimi Martinsdaughters and my grandfather Einar Karlotsons family.

So Happy Birthday to you all with your Birthday 1.th of August
Karoline born 1858 Nordre Osen
Kristine Dortea 1859 Nordre Osen

AN ORDINARY FRIDAY IN MAY

Times just flies away - like an 747 airplane high in the blue sky! Last Sunday were May the 17. here in Norway - the most Norwegian day, ever! Everybody are wearing Bunad / national costume - waiving with the Norwegian flag and having good times.
My mother - my brother and I spent the week-end at my mothers cabin - Evja! It was strange - the first time with out Cindy - she just loved that place!
Anyway, here's some pictures from the National Day in Nordre Osen.

We do have the most loving woodpecker - here's some of his works! The bird are made by a "famous" blacksmith, I do not remember his name - sorry!

Here's the flag - the Norwegian Flag in our driveway. See the pine roots and the sand - that's how it's at Nordre Osen. Lots of pines and lots of sand - and the sunniest sun ever!

This is the river Osa - and the marshy bay - we saw some Canada goose and some grey! dukcs - on Osa. They do come back every year - from where? - I don't know!

This field is my nearest neighbour. It's right before it sprouts green! The farmer has a huge tractor and GPS!! - whatever - and makes the field look like this!
Have a nice day - and feel free to leave a comment or two - enjoy!
